Teacher Mary
Walk into our classroom and you will find "Teacher Mary," our high-energy teacher, kneeling eye-to-eye with your children, with open arms, welcoming hugs, smiling eyes and an unending patience and focus on her students.
Children joining Metzger Community Preschool benefit from Mary’s 20+ years of experience in education. She has an AAS in Early Childhood Education and 13 years' experience as a preschool teacher in co-op preschools. Mary was also founder and director of Kid's Castle Cooperative Preschool in Idaho for 5 years. Always searching for more learning, Mary became a librarian for Skyway Elementary School where, for 7 years, she maintained the library and taught over 600 children and teachers about books and literacy. Upon her move to Oregon, Mary was hired by Nike for 4 years to teach in their child development program. Mary has taken additional course work from Meals and Nutrition for Young Children to Developmentally Appropriate Practice in the Transition Year, from Pediatric First Aid to Active Storytelling, and Diversity & Culture of the Classroom. Mary has taken numerous classes at the college level to keep her competitive as an outstanding educator and current with best practices of teaching techniques and philosophies. All of Mary’s valuable and enriching experiences enhance our preschool’s programs. Mary excels in the areas of literacy, classroom environments, and interpersonal communication. Cooperative preschools and interacting with families are her passion. Mary is a master facilitator of the transition from home to the school setting. Mary has been with Metzger Community Preschool since April 2012. She is the mother of two successful adult children. She resides in Aloha, Oregon. |
